Antonio was born in Havana, Cuba. He describes it as, "One of the most romantic cities in the world." He says it was no surprise that he chose to design wedding gowns, as no other garment brings more joy, excitement, and delight.
"I grew up spending lots of my time watching clothes being assembled and I gravitated towards the scraps that would fall from the cutting table. Using the largest pieces, I imagined wardrobes being made from my scraps. At the end of the day when all the machines were turned off I would start one up and sew. I recall thinking it was not about my sewing, it was more about having my vision come to life."
